About Us

Rockingham County Economic Development and Tourism works to strengthen the local economy by supporting business growth, attracting new investment, and promoting the county as a great place to live, work, and visit. The department partners with local governments, businesses, and regional organizations to recruit new industries, assist existing employers, and foster opportunities that create jobs and expand the tax base.

In addition to economic development efforts, the department promotes Rockingham County’s unique tourism assets, including outdoor recreation, historic sites, local events, and cultural attractions. By highlighting the county’s communities, trails, rivers, parks, and heritage destinations, the tourism program helps draw visitors who support local businesses and contribute to the overall vitality of the region.

Rockingham County offers a strategic location in North Carolina’s Piedmont region with access to major transportation corridors, a skilled workforce, and a strong quality of life. Through business recruitment, retention, and tourism promotion, Rockingham County Economic Development and Tourism is committed to building a vibrant, sustainable economy for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
